One challenge is the process we use, your DAC is clean until you leave, at that time HR fills out the report as part of the exit process.
Knowing this yes you can dispute what's written, however, they may not remove it and some companies will hold it against you. So an inncident that costs $200 and you could have paid for ends up preventing another company from looking at you.
Many in the industry follow this process, but it's something to keep in mind while working here. I had two inncidents in the same year, likely I won't be going anywhere because I'm sure some companies would view them negatively, and while they were my fault if I'd known the level of detail that was being reported I would have paid myself and said nothing.
The whole DAC process is meant to help companies, there are many industries where reporting anything negative about an employee can lead to a lawsuit, just another joy of the trucking industry and yes a black mark on Magnum.

Your DAC falls under the same legal standards as your credit reports do. You are allowed to challenge and rebutt anything on their. You are also allowed to attach your side of the story to every entry made. I’m not defending DAC but those are what rights you have.
When most companies do look at your DAC the key thing are looking for is “are you eligible for rehire” -
The point is, if @ncmickey had not mentioned these incidents to Magnum they never would have known. He did the right thing and reported them. The snow and the trailer tail didn't cost them a penny. Why report it to DAC ?

During my time there, I picked up at one of their shippers with hardly no room. Had to nose off in the ditch, front bumper ate grass and dirt and cracked... Told them about it, they did not report it on my DAC.

I've had a few incidents and a non-preventible accident (car slid into my trailer on icy road). I had to answer a few questions when I got hired on with Magnum. Any company will forward most all incidents to DAC when you leave. I think they should only go back 3 (maybe it's 5) years. When filling out an app for new company, it's best to list all incidents up front. They'll compare that with DAC, which the info is very sketchy on anyway, and then the driver is asked to explain what happened. I'm not sure why a company waits to dump the info til after a driver leaves though. Another good thing to run on yourself is the Driver PSP, the prescreening profile that FMCSA has on you. Costs like $10 or $15. Like someone else said, a clean MVR/CSA outweighs what's on the DAC. It's nothing shady, standard practice in trucking. But the info on the DAC is scant as far as what happened. I felt the same way when I applied somewhere years ago and these items popped up. It was like ok memory, don't fail me now! As far as Walmart goes, they have greatly relaxed their hiring standards the last year or so. But they've also been in some pretty high-profile wrecks, too. Walmart drivers ain't what they used to be. And, tbh, if you know what their safety policies are before you hire on, may make you think twice. One biggie...absolutely no cell phone use while driving. And they have the driver facing camera and technology to monitor that. Ask safety what the DAC's all about and how it's used. And maybe, while you're on the phone with them, ask what incidents are in your folder. I hate surprised...

Found this little short article...might help but doesn't answer the big question...why do carriers hold off on reporting negative info until the driver has left. My guess is insurance rates.

OAN, picking up in Paw Paw today going to SuperValu Hopkins. I've heard we can drop 24hours before appt, which is Mon 1000. Then I've got a St Cloud to Jackson WI shorty then head home for next weekend. Thanksgiving for us is Saturday! Going to deep fry a turkey and the rest can make up whatever they want. Going to get real cold from west to east starting Sunday so be ready!! Don't forget those cold weather survival goodies and truck supplies!
