I thought greenhouse gasses were what is going to kill the world in the next year or so. The emission equipment does nothing to eliminate that, just a little bit of nox at the expense of less mpg. So which do they prefer? A little more nox, or a lot more co2?
Seems like a lot of people are getting rid of trucks that are out of warranty. What happens to all of those late model used trucks? A lot of them get deleted and sold overseas. That's ok though. Its a different atmosphere over there, can't affect us here in Green-world, right?

My Glider has Oem factory motor blows smoke when its cold out really bad until eng warms up,then it smell at idle of raw fuel or oil thinking fuel due to fact im not using any oil at all between oil changes at 14000. Eng has 76000mi on it i avg 7mpg pulling reefer loads 3.42gears 10speed. New injectors switched out ecm with a test ecm same issue. Bought a new engine for 34000.00 bad move new engine blows smoke as well mpg still 7mpg . Had a 5yr 500000 mi warranty on old engine could not transfer to new engine. Also 3yr 300000 mi warranty on new engine starts where old eng left off . In other words the new eng warranty is 300000 -76000.=244000. Thanks Fitz for not transfering warranty and to Detroit for the bs warranty for new engine. And the misquito fogger that is hard to deal with when at idle sleeping

They all blow smoke when cold. Mine does, so does a friend with a 2000.
You're trying to chase down why they blow smoke when they're cold or there's a fuel smell after it warms up?

Mine blows a ton of smoke and has a bad fuel knock when cold sounds like a sledge hammer banging on side of engine. Or a hit miss engine usually below 50deg outside temp

One has to wonder what the deal is. My factory reman 60 now has 768,000 on the reman and is doing good. Still doesn't use any more than 1/2 gallon oil in 22,000 mile oil changes, and still gets very good mpg. Oil samples look as good as when the motor had 50,000 miles on it. Sure, it does show some excess unburned fuel and such on a cold morning start up, but it clears up within a minute or two as the engine starts to warm. And it doesn't lay a smoke screen at idle any time. Very little soot build up on the stack tips at any time. Still pulls well. Everything on it except a couple of exhaust manifold bolts, starter, and alternator is the same as when it was dropped in the truck.

The only thing I did to the motor from the get go was yank off the waste gate turbo and put on a BW 171702 assymetrical turbo with a turbo blanket on it before it was dropped in the glider. Also a couple of Walker megaflow mufflers on the stacks up the back of the sleeper.

    Lepton1 and Terry270 Thank this.
