    Fair enough.
I was in the business to make money, which includes doing it safely. I'll be ###### if I am going to stop a couple of hours from home after being gone for a week, if I feel good, just because a black box says I'm tired and need to sleep for 10 flipping hours.

So, do you feel eld make you safer?
I am not being snarky or trying to pick a fight, and I realize that the HOS are the problem, but this is all under the guise of "Safety".

does anyone log 100% legal , all your time fueling , all your time loading and unloading , all your time inspecting your truck , are you in the sleeper all the time you log in there , then your falsifying your logs even with the ELD , the only line you can't change is the drive line , so you can change your log on an ELD . That's falsifying a log by your own reasoning .
This is where we are our own worse enemies , unless it's your ox being gored you don't care , you just made your own point from earlier , and mine as well , your right that we can't organize , but it's because of thinking like yours , and my point is drivers used to stick together , but that's all over now

No, but the main purpose of eLog is to prevent driving after excessive hours. Drive time CAN NOT be cheated. Has it made me a safer driver? Yes. Back in the 80's I was driving tired and driving in excess of 16 hours/day sometimes. I and others were lucky, I suppose that I never fell asleep and crashed. But over time, I drove closer to "legal" but still cheated logs regularly. We are human and will all go through phases in life where we feel more invincible than others. Drivers are no exception.

Then add in the fact there are more than a few carrier bosses or dispatchers or planners who demand or strongly suggest drivers run "as hard as they possible can" [not having to deal with eLogs]. Do not doubt there are solo drivers out there regularly running 16+ hour days. Most of these are working off "work sponsor" immigrant "obligations".

One thing is for sure, eLogs have made me "smarter" about how I manage my time and it has also made me more intolerant of having to wait for others to to move from in front of the fuel pumps. But I'm in a sector where bumping up against recap hours happens typically, so yes, EVERY minute counts and I will fudge a lot but I challenge anyone to prove falsification. But again, DRIVE time can not be fudged or hidden in terms of hours ... a few minutes here and there, perhaps, but not hours. And in the eyes of the FMCSA and public, it's all about drive time spent and rest hours spent.

By your own admission drive time can be cheated , if your "fudging" your logs your 70 hr clock is false so your driving hours are falsified . By your own account you run up against your recap. So how many illegal hours are you driving a week ?
And just because your ELD says your in the sleeper 10 hours , were you sleeping? are you rested? Who knows
Sounds like your just making up points to support the ELD .
I like the random caps though , it makes the nonsense seem forceful

What's wrong with running up to a recap 70? Yes, I fudge a few minutes here and there (time from ramp to parked) but not hours. And if my fudging a few minutes here and there makes me a cheating, unsafe driver, then a cheating, unsafe driver be I.

If in your world that makes me as guilty and unsafe as the driver running hot on paper and driving 80+ hours between Sunday and Friday, then I don't know how to respond to that.

If/when you move to eLogs you'll find every way possible to maximize your chance at success and prevent potential violation flags. It's human nature.

I stopped at the rest area just east of Amarillo a few years ago. I had unloaded fats at IBP and made it there to lay down. I wake up to a famous Texas pan handle snow storm. It looked like the red tail hawks were throwing #### snow balls. I start on East and fall in with a couple sets of doubles and a few other trucks. A driver headed west ask how bad is it back that way. The response was take it slow and communicate with others and you will be fine. What I heard next was the single dumbest #### I have ever heard on the radio. "I can't afford to slow down I'm on this #### E-log"

Tell me how that's safer, tell me there isn't idiots on BOTH sides of this fence. I'm #### proud for any one that uses them and likes them. Why can't most of those in that category be glad for me that I don't?

Hating it , haha , I've run under Qualcomm before with paper logs , back then everything had to jive , my main thing is when your having a bad day this ELD will just make it worse , start falling behind , can't make up time , more stress as the day rolls on , till its late and you can't find a place to park , some days just throw in the towel , hit the bunk early , screw the freight
