How many DUI`s is too many

They turned me down in 1996. Their owners won't allow even one.

 

Well this might help...this is from a mailing Schneider sent out a couple of weeks ago. They updated some policies per FMCSA stuff...

This is just the policy of Schneider.
"All drivers are expected to remain compliant with the qualifications outline in parts 383 and 391 of the Federal Regulations and Schneiders hiring and retention guidelines. ....

To remain within Retention guidelines, a driver must meet the following:
...
D. No convictions for Alcohol or Druge related offences in a motor vehicle in the past 5 years; no more than one in the past 10 yeras; no more than 2 in your lifetime (Never in a commercial vehicle)"

Im assuming these retention guidelines also are are their hiring standards.

 

Depend on the company.Some don't want any.

Others will look the other way if they are 5 years old.

I was at the Arizona DMV a couple of months ago. I was there for registering a vehicle, but I also asked the lady behind the counter about my driving record. My current insurance company shows 1 point for an accident I was in - but wasn't my fault. The lady looked it up and told me there is nothing showing on my record. She went back 11 years and found a ticket for - I don't even remember what - it wasn't a moving violation. She the informed me that anyone checking my record CAN'T go that far back, anyway. The ONLY people that can see that are employees of the state, and they aren't going to be handing out info that old.
I would have to imagine this is basically true the states over. I think something that old is a non-issue, but that's just my guess.

 

I dunno - does the DMV who these kinds of stats to potential employers doing background checks? Does something that happened that long ago even show up?

 

You should be fine, just don't try to go to Canada for any reason. And try to have them taken off of your record if possible, though they probably will never show up.

one is one too many. My friend owns another truck besides the pete in my photo album and turns down any who has had any dui's regardless of explanations.

I had one, leaving a bar. Didn't get ten feet when he hit the lights. I was going through a nasty divorce at the time, a real nasty divorce. Thank God that is over. But I would not condemn a man to joblessness because of it. Squeaky clean guys give me the creeps. They were usually my worst employees.

My hubby has two - 16 & 20 years ago. Those both happened before we met. We all have done stupid things before, some of us just never got caught. Some people learn their lessons, and some people don't. Some people grow up and some don't. If the DUI's are old, it means the person learned their lesson and grew up.

 

I personally think that almost every person that drinks have driven "legally" impaired. I also have found that for many companies the answer to "how many DUI's is too many" is 1. 1 DUI is too many for today's insurance companies.
