I’d imagine he looked like the walking dead after all that running, and someone really shouldn’t have cut him loose in a truck after setting eyes on him, IMHO.

I think there comes a point you have to trust to laws you have and recognize more isn't going to change anything. You are legally required to be fit to drive. After driving 800 miles you cannot reasonably believe you are. End of story.

How is that any different than someone sitting in the sleeper for 14 hours at a truck stop playing a video game? Is there going to be a new profession observing and certifying that each driver had 8 hours of uninterupted sleep ending no more than 2 hours before going on duty? If it is possible to completely eliminate an possibility of a crime then why not start with murder? If no laws, rules nor regulations were broken then, perhaps, you have a need for more but otherwise just need better enfircement.

I came out if Joplin and saw a truck looked like he was pulling onto the road from the shoulder. He was because drifted completely onto the shoulder. I followed him because I didn't want to pass since he was all over the road. I tried hailing him on the CB, flashing my lights, laying on the air horn. He passed a number of exits with truck stops and kept going.

I finally called the state police. There was no markings on the trailer but I pulled up next to the tractor to get a company name off it. I had the mile marker. It's the truck right in front of me. I ran another 40 miles behind him past an exit with a state police headquarters. He finally hit a car trying to pass him. Well, I guess the police finally showed up for that.

The answer is not truckers double dog swearing they really, really, really are fit to drive. I drive mainly at night and every night I see drivers that are obviously falling asleep at the wheel. They don't need new rules to see someone drift out of their lane.
