I talked to company OOs and shop managers here at Celadon, they got 1000s of KW and Internationals with Cummins power, but many have problems with the engine, burning excessive amount of oil and in-frame as low as 200k miles.
I have +1,830,000 milles on original Volvo D13 engine/2008; i don't add any oil yet oil in-between 35,000 miles oil changes interval.

Superglue a Pete emblem on the hood and everyone will love you , engine HP will triple , and it will never ever break.
Oldironfan, bulldawg trucker and Midnightrider909 Thank this. -
Pete and KW doesn't have reliable engines anymore since Detroit doesn't give them and CAT is gone from truck market, all they got is unreliable Paccar and Cummins. From my personal experience i would get a Volvo D13 and from what i read and know from buddies , DD15 also is maybe more reliable, better intergated emission system than Paccar and Cummins.

I just couldn't bring myself to buy a Volvo or a freightliner. I wanted a big hood, I bought one. So far so good. Knock on wood.

We have a Cummins in our T680 and it uses a gallon of oil every 7000 miles and it has 370,000 miles on it. The freight shakers we used to drive with DD 15's never seemed to use a drop. It's too bad you can't get a Kenworth or a Pete with the Detroit engine.Johny41 Thanks this.

Doesn't freightliner make a classic with the long hood?
-
They do, but it's still a freightliner. I also rather the isx over the detroit. Rawze website has a ton of good information as far as maintaining the isx. Add it all together that's why I went for it. Also the depreciation of the 389 or w9 is more linear than parabolic I think is the term... so with how I am financed I will never owe more than what I could sell it for.. plus it's comfortable and I like to drive it. People take pictures of it. People ask if I am hiring. They never did with my old freightliner. There is more to it than "what is the cheapest/most efficient way to move a load."
Midnightrider909 and uncleal13 Thank this. -
They sold my Volvo with 658k on it, never added a single drop of oil to it, never used any coolant, original turbo, egr cooler and egr valve. They did replace the doser valve and nox sensors, cleaned the dpf twice, and replaced the cam under warranty due to too much soot build up I believe from the 15w40. Original injectors and cups. A few wheel seal leaks, replaced the three filter housing because the freeze plug was leaking, a belt tensioner, tightened the clamp on the Venturi tube once, three new batteries, a new ground cable to the frame. refilled the a/c once after a slight leak at the low pressure schrader, a few windshields.
All in all, that D13 was an excellent motor, averaging over 7.5 mpg, and made that company a lot of money with probably a 98-99 percent in service record. I'm talking 40k mile services between greasing, oil and filter changes. I would have bought it if I knew they were selling it.Midnightrider909 Thanks this. -
Forgot to mention, the 2014 cascadia I am in now with 389k just went into the shop to have the doser replaced, leaking windshield, update the brace on the windbreaker that was broken, new bolts in the driver fairing that was broken off, and a few miscellaneous things. It's the difference in my Volvo which didn't slip seat much, and a truck that was abused that I am trying to get back right.
