And yeah. First thing I ask any time someone wants me to send one using one of the LTL megas is, "Is this commodity fragile?" Quickly followed by, "What's the NMFC?", and "Are you 100% on these weights/dimensions?" If the answer to the first question is, "yes", the second is, "What's an NMFC?" and the third is, "Not especially," I immediately stop, do not pass go, and do not collect two hundred dollars.

If i was a broker id never use the ltl companies. On three cutover end they absolutely suck for anything you care about. I've had 3 things shipped in i needed for my truck and they ruined each one. 2 bumpers and a radiator showed up twisted. The only thing ill use them for now is pallets of bottled water. And that's just so i can get the thousands in damages back in grins watching the poor ######## get that pallet up my steep driveway.

All I can tell you guys is Coyote is the go to if you have a good relationship with them you will see your money every time, so as most of you guys know I pull a van, and most of my loads are from them, Piedmont sc, Laredo tx 3400$ about 1300 miles, then 2900$ to Atlanta GA about 1100 miles, don't pull cheap loads it only hurt us all

Partially right rollin coal. I made out quite well on all the other loads I did except that one there, and yep, it wasn't a mission to go find the highest paying, lightest freight we could in the shortest distance..., it was a getaway for us this time.I simply stated how I feel about the way they do business these days. It's pitiful how they take advantage of the guys that aren't savvy enough to hold out and wait, deadhead a bit like you say, etc. and just book it and lose money. Nothing more than voicing my opinion on the greed that probably doesn't need to be repeated day in a day out on this subject. That particular one just burned my arse. Mark my words, I WILL decline any further ridiculous loads like that in the future for straight business. That got us out of the cactus patch and to Gas Monkey Garage is how I look at it in the end.SAR and HopeOverMope Thank this. -

And NEITHER do I...That's the total misconception of what I am saying. Every business whether it be your plumber, electrician, mechanic or what have you obviously need to make a profit that's a given. It's the practice of deception and misconduct behind the scenes when the percentages should reflect a decent and fair amount that both parties are comfortable with; not just the one offering the cookie.
We all love whirlwind profits...but we also know that isn't feasible in this game, so playing fairly with everyone would certainly be a nice place to be. But who am I kidding right? Until rainbows and unicorns are present every morning, I doubt it'll change.

When you choose to work with a broker company, do you try to find one or two brokers in that company to build a relationship with? I am just now getting my authority and have been emailing several brokers. Still contracted to a local company, but I want to start running under my own authority next moth.

My best recommendation to you is this - get out there on the boards, look at freight and see what it's paying, and then double check credit/days to pay. Seldom will you get turned away for being new authority - we don't do that in my shop. But the two biggest things you want to be sure of before you even talk to a guy is what their credit looks like, followed by average days to pay. As long as the credit's pristine, and the average days is around 30 or less, you're gonna be in decent shape out the gate.bigguns, HopeOverMope, easytopleez33 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dragon Expedited: Found out after I delivered the load that my factor doesn't accept them. Living up to the terms of a contract is not an option and a payment due is a payment due. Now I've found out why the factor won't take them:

Per previous submissions, the POD and billing information were delivered on Nov. 14, 2017. The contract states payment to be made within 30 days. Payment made infers payment received to the client. I have no choice but to send a new bill with a late fee added. Please remit ASAP to avoid further charges.
I will waive the fee if electronic payment is made by COB today.
