It's all about you mate, your choice, your money, spend it well by doing your due diligence, get a qualified mechanic to check it out if your serious.

The Mansfield area. In the middle of everything, close to nothing.

Mansfield, yuck... We are looking for a few drivers up here in Detroit, we work out of Woodhaven, the Detroiter Truck Stop right off of I-75. We have automotive freight that runs down your way and are hiring. And I get nothing if you come aboard... We also have a nice little Volvo that has been well maintained sitting here for sale. I think $14,000, probably get it for $10,000... Work four days, putz around, you will take home at least $2000... Work 5 or 6, take home, if you hustle, $3000 to $5000 net. BUT! The ELDs are being installed, so no clue yet on earnings. I have been here 3 years, used to have my own authority, I am not going anywhere.
Oh, all O/O, maybe 5 or 6 of us running at a time... No company truck competition and GM Expedite Carrier of the Year.
HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
take home at least $2k for the week?
-
LOL! Yes. Without even batting an eye. That is in 3 or 4 days, roughly 1000 miles, if that.
On Edit: IFTA Miles.

If we finance a truck, projected costs are $2,804/week - for the house AND the truck.
If we outright buy the truck, $2,479/week.
So, between $500 - $600 a day for meeting all expenses - also, figuring 5mpg @ $3/gal - 2,500 miles a week - 500 gallons of fuel - $1,500.
I've been told I won't use that much fuel, but I'd rather calculate too high on the fuel than too low. If I use less, great, more profit.
Not opposed to another type of truck, but the main reason I want this KW is that it's a studio sleeper with the sofa (which has 3 seat belts), so I can take the kids somewhere in the truck, and everyone will be secured.
Edit - the $1,500 for fuel is already included in the calculations. -
Sir, you are looking at this all wrong, this is a business, not a travel agency. I just told you of a place where you can drive roughly 2,000 +/- IFTA miles a week and TAKE HOME $2,000 to $5000 a week after expenses. And a decent truck that you could purchase at a good price that has been maintained with all of the records included for a below market price. Also... Children and pets are not allowed here. We are very serious about the work we do. We did not win GM (General Motors) Expedite Carrier of the Year, WE EARNED IT.
Seriously, you really need to rethink your priorities. No offense, but this is a job, not a 'Lifestyle".
Think about what I just stated. You are paying to much for a truck. -
I apologize for misunderstanding you. I know it's a job, I am looking at it from the perspective of making sure my bills are paid. If you're saying I can gross $5k a week with who you're with, I am all ears. As for the kids/pets thing - it would only be on a vacation. E.g. - taking them to the Field Museum in Chicago next year for the weekend. The truck would be better than being cramped in the minivan - so wouldn't be taking anyone on the road with me.

How much is your house note? Mine is paid for, and so is my truck.
