My friend went to Schneider training in Charlotte, North Carolina last fall. He got his cdl. According to Schneider's website, they are "adding hundreds of automatic shift transmission trucks". The last time I saw him, he said that by 2009 all of Schneider's trucks would be automatics. I haven't seen him since. So, is that true? And are all their trucks automatics now? Even the ones used for cdl training?
Question about Schneider trucks.

I dunno for sure but as far as I know they are still manual super tens. Im sure the new trucks they are buying are gonna be automatic because they were talking about it when I was there two years ago. Also I doubt all the trucks are gonna be autos because they arent gonna convert there old trucks over to much cost involved. An I highly doub the training trucks will be automatics for say 4 to 5 years because they use the retired otr trucks for training.

We still have manual tens, haven't heard anything about going auto..

I just went through Schneider orientation in Indianapolis as an O/Op. What I heard, and saw, is that autos will be available in limited numbers in the coming months. They had 2 that were given to the more experienced drivers, but I do not know if they were new or not. And I highly doubt that they will go with ALL new trucks with the current economic state the transportation industry finds itself in.
The road testing was done in any truck available, manual trans.
Hope this helps.

Thanks everybody. I sure appreciate it.

To revive and old thread, how about now? All the trucks Auto's? I put an application in today and want to know if their all autos. I really want to drive a manual.

Yay I actually know this answer I spoke to a recruiter and he said all of the new trucks are automatics. If they get rid of that hideous orange, I wouldn't have any doubt about working for them. I wonder if staring at that color will make me depressed after a while.

I would call your recruiter and ask where he got his info, cause I have seen very few auto's and all the new trucks I have seen are 10 speeds.

i think recruiter has bad info, all of the new trucks that i have seen have 10 speeds. from what i know they tested out a few autos but stuck with the 10 speed.
