In my opinion, hazmat isn't worth the hassle now. You have to go through Homeland Security to get the endorsement, get the fingerprints, pay the 125-150 for it, and then wait on a new license to arrive in the mail. And then, when you start driving it, you find you make the same money running a load of hazmat styrene monomer as you do running a load of distilled water. A hazmat load should pay at least 20% more to compensate for the increased risk of inspection, the increased risk of missing a RxR track, the increased risk of having to run around a town or city, with no extra pay, the increased risk of having a big problem if there's a leak or if you have a wreck pulling it. I have the endorsement, but I won't be renewing it when it expires. There's too much hassle, no extra pay, and too many eyes looking at you when you have placards on.
Is Hazmat worth the trouble? In my opinion: NO.

How is the LTL segment now? I guess what I'm really asking is "is there an LTL segment in trucking anymore?"
Steel Dragon Thanks this. -

How the hell does one miss a rail road crossing?
Lepton1, Dennixx, Sirscrapntruckalot and 8 others Thank this. -
Mack is correct here. My company has freight coming out our ears. But we're an interline, final mile carrier for the big boys who don't cover our area of the country.
Or who can't put together enough of their own freight to make a payable trip to this part of Gods country.
There is work in LTL, of YOU are willing to WORK. -
Not hard to do if there’s one out on a highway in the middle of nowhere and you’re daydreaming.
....Like here for example. I know guys that forget about this one often.
Oldironfan, Mike2633, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
