Can I get your contact info, so I can call you when I get audited???
I am inheriting a large amount of money when I turn thirty in 3 years and since both of my sisters were audited shortly after they turned thirty and received theirs, I am confident that I will be to...It would be nice to have you in my corner...lol

The short list includes the obvious wheel, wedge, lever, screw, and fire, but the full version extends all the way to Doritos, sundresses, and that new car smell.

You ever wonder why "therapist" is spelled THE RAPIST?

I would add lasers to the list, they allow so many things from CD's to accurate measurements to broadband fiber optic lines, not to mention as medical instruments and kick ### science fiction movie weapons. I would also like to add the interstate highway system which is still a relatively new idea.

My list, in no particular order:

Obviously, the wheel. This gave us pulleys and led to gears, which gave us torque, so we could move large objects with less force.

The wedge, which gave us the ability to cut and move things. The knife came from this concept, as did the chisel, saw, the ramp, and the screw.

The lever - Archimedes said, "Give me a big enough lever and I will move the world." Nuff said.

The folding knife. Blades were always dangerous to carry. Folding gave them safety and portability.

The telephone - point to point communication.

Radio, which gave us the concept of broadcasting, meaning one point to many, versus the point to point communication of the telephone. This gave us television eventually, and similar concepts now give us cell phones and satellite communication.

As an aside to radio, Morse Code. Still used today, if you listen to shortwave or ham signals. Before technology allowed voices, the dots and dashes informed the world.

The internal combustion engine. Without it, no cars, no planes. We'd still be riding trains and horses.

The steam engine - Without that, we'd have no trains. With no trains, the West would still be open country

Vulcanized rubber. - Without it, no tires, no modern transportation or anything that requires a gasket.

added late: Pitch. The stuff that helped to make early big boats waterproof

Wow, no mentions of the diesel engine? I am shocked considering the boards focus.
