Talk about FALSE INFO , there is a warning page on the main pages of this site and it gives info about companies , story with SWIFT also has a link about SHARE VALUE dropping as a result of the way the company treats employees.
Now theres to things wrong
1 ) There is no public STOCKS / SHARES to drop company went private in May 2007
2) Story was from Sept 2004 so very misleading -
I think Swift is a good company. I don't drive, but have researched a lot. If you look at the number of trucks and the number of accidents or incidents, they hold up.

There is a lot of pages in this thread. It kinda sounds to me that Swift sounds better today than when this thread started. I've been wanting to drive for more years than I've been working but for one reason or another I just never did. I am again finally seriously thinking of driving, but with what seems the majority of people posting about companies being those that have had problems, it makes it hard to choose what company to seriously consider. And a few years back my friends dad went to Swift only to be told he would have to drive team so he left, but I haven't heard any other stories like that. It seems that all companies that offer their own schools seem to be getting bashed on a bit around the web. But I don't expect life to be a bed of roses especially right out of the gate, and in this economy. For all those driving for Swift, or even just trained recently. Would Swift be a good choice for getting a start in the industry? It sounds like a better choice then some of those other guys like England and Prime that seem to get royally bashed here.

Yeah swift is a good spot to start out and learn the ropes, but I wouldnt stay here for ever just because you can make more money elsewhere. They have treated me very well in the past 5 months ive been with them no problems what so ever. The only thing I dont like about them is the wait time to get things fixed on the truck but it doesnt happen often because they do take very good care of there equipment. An yes they have changed alot from the past, the guy who started the company in the begining finally runs the company again and has cleaned up alot of stuff and is working on cleaning up more. If you look in the Phoenix terminal I guess hes got over a couple 100 or so old trailers waiting to sell, and has been buying new trailers left and right. Slowly but surely the company is getting better. Another thing they are trying to do is weed out the bad mentors, but they can only do this if the students that have a bad time with them will report them because otherwise they have no clue. So if you are a student with a bad bad mentor please please REPORT THEM! Thanks.
Biggja22 Thanks this. -
A lot can be said for being privately owned. Too many companies are more concerned about the investors. In fact, that is one of the things that makes smaller companies appealing is that the company can look at ways to enhance the life of the driver because they don't have investors wanting a bigger dividend.

Just wondering if anyone has an answer maybe I missed somewhere. What kind of pay would be expected the first month? The first 6 months? Thanks.
-
Depends on where you run, the miles you get, etc. The starting pay is $0.26/mile (higher in the east). I believe by 6 months you are up to $0.30/mile. If you go to their website and find pay and benefits there is a link that takesyou to the sliding payscale.

Got a chance to check out the MS CARRIER trailers I had posted about.
They are in nice shape , guy bought them at a sale 3 years ago. He is using them for storage , look real good as a kid he had working for him last year spent a week on them with the pressure washer and paint gun. They have since taken the decals off.
Said he had a few drivers stop and ask about them after they were cleaned up. -
How much per week would that make for a OTR and regional driver?
