Don't get hung up on the plush 2020 model ##### boat tractor from the large car company... it's not all that.

For me if you handed me that old late 50's autocar back in 1999, there was joyful days, hardly any work to be done. Partly on the rememberance of days gone by in the old iron but also a reminder why trucks are so nice today. Maybe too nice. The old rigs talk to you in many ways if you ride em right you hear music. Abuse em you get all sorts of beaten up lol.

I think these companies are going to have to up they're game a lot if they ever expect to attract more than bottem of the barrel drivers and retain them .
The days of pay em as little as possible and replace em when they quit are coming to a close .

Lonesome, BUMBACLADWAR and x1Heavy Thank this.

I only drive 30-40 days a year, they pay me well, they leave me alone, the profit sharing is nice, I determine my travel dates, I never sleep in the truck.

Entertainment is much better than regular freight.

We had a ton of food at work today for Christmas and I drove around in a pickup and dropped off a few drums of DEF then drove my tanker 5 minutes to dump it at my warehouse. Didn’t really do a whole lot. Lol.

    Edit

Oh yeah, I cleaned the inside of my truck and helped the neighbor move a trailer someone dropped off lop sided so you couldn’t drive a fork lift in it.

Ditto here - not the top, best pay but full medical/dental (which do not use), paid holidays OFF weekly wash bonus $30, inspection bonus ($50 per 'clean'), annual 'no violation' bonus $500, Christmas bonus $300 (with company party that includes raffle, gifts) but most importantly trucks are Top Notch maintained . . . . '06 379 Pete with C13 CAT!!

On OT by Friday & every other SAT (no Sundays) working construction/residential with a tandem dump every day is different, no 'routine' here!!!
