Hi everybody, I'm new to the trucking business. I drove for couple months. I want to be Owner Operator. I don't want to buy from dealers or company trucks. How can I find Owners that are selling their trucks. Is there a good website, truckpaper or anything of that sort? Please help, Thank You

I was in the market for a truck over the summer. craigslist is littered with polished turds and over priced junk with hidden problems. They put hardwood floors in and use as selling points. Some good stuff pops up in the truck trader catalogs. I wound up finding what I wanted through word of mouth. someone that knows somebody that knows somebody else. It can be a long and tiring process. Even after the fact, expect to spend several thousand to fix neglected things and make your truck nice the way you want it.

Some of the worst junk I have looked at are those from a private owner. Most of the problems I run across was just poorly done repairs without any knowledge of how the truck works or how to properly repair them.

I concur and that is why all my repairs are done at the dealer. I have the paperwork. Of course I'm not selling but if everyone did that it sure would make it easier.
