Hi Friends,
A buddy of mine recently landed a OTR gig where he gets paid a minimum salary and a bonus for driving extra. They run him about 2500-3000 miles a week. He likes it because if the weather is bad,...he still gets paid for being held up. He's not responsible for getting the mileage he needs to make a living, and many other responsibilities are not his. HOWEVER, i haven't heard of too many places that offer a salary vs. PPM.
QUESTION: What percentage of OTR companies out there offer a salary vs. others that only PPM ?
(i know its a wild-card question, but i thought i would ask anyway. THANKS for any constructive input you can give).

There's a bunch of them that offer minimum pay/salary plus you can earn more, but not less. Here's one of them; Hornady Transportation. There's dozens more.

Thanks China. It seems like the majority of OTR companies are PPM rather than salary plus.
I think this is especially true for those who have little to no experience OTR.Chinatown Thanks this. -
K&B Transportation - K&B Transportation takes a very unique approach with our company driver compensation. Not only do we offer our company drivers a top mileage pay, we also guarantee our company drivers 2500 paid miles per week. Essentially, at K&B Transportation if you do not run 2500 miles in a given week, we will pay you the difference. This gives you the comfort of a solid weekly paycheck, week in and week out regardless of miles. -

DoubleO7 Thanks this. -
Not knocking any "Guaranteed" pay job but just check into them carefully. From my understanding you have to meet certain requirements to actually get that. Must be available a certain amount of days per week, no late deliveries and such.

They call their system a pay "commitment". For the network fleet (OTR) the commitment for a new driver starts at $900 per week, $100 at 7 months, $1100 at 13 months. It was $100 higher across the board, but they dropped it last summer when freight rates dropped. I am expecting that to go back up..... The pay commitment is real, I only missed it 1 time in 20 months for being late on scanning a load. The pay commitment only applies for full 7 day weeks, but I usually stay out 4 months.
West Side Transport has been good to me. The best part is all the staff is VERY friendly and easy to deal with. It borders on the bizare, for trucking. If anyone is interested in West Side, I would be happy to speak with youLonesome, tman78, tinytim and 1 other person Thank this. -
No doubt you have to make yourself available 7 days a week to qualify for the guaranteed $1000 weekly....which works out to $142 per day. I agree with others to read the fine print.
