That didn't work out .
I told them I'm a trucker and own a big rig a big pickup and a couple Harley's too , they got real quiet , then I told them I don't recycle and they called me a terrorist and threw me out .
it's really hard to get behind a movement that doesn't even know what its' mad about.

Most know what they are against. They just can't or won't be honest with themselves [and observers] about the why they are against it. They can't formulate a logical and sound argument for/against an issue that will hold up well in the court of public opinion. And looking at the dumazz "representatives" of the industry as noted in the original post, that's a real problem.
longbedGTs, Moving Forward, ZVar and 2 others Thank this. -
and the ELD pom pom wavers are just as bad. they're doing the propaganda work for the government. isn't that convenient? hey, remember when government had to fight to get encroaching laws enacted? not anymore. people are cheering it on as it happens. these guys have been duped into thinking this is about safety and are heralding in big nanny government.
its kinda like putting a ankle bracelet on all of us and saying "there is no evidence of a problem here, its in the event maybe you do something wrong ,we can see where you've been." and there's a group here that will say "if you're doing nothing wrong you have to hide..."
the eld ruling is a gateway regulation. we may have a stay of execution with this president but the next left leaning administration will open the gates.
you guys see this little "wish list"?
NTSB in ‘Most Wanted’ list calls for greater use of video recorders, collision avoidance systems
go to about the middle to the medical history. notice the lack of any data to suggest this is even an issue. then click on the link at the end of the paragraph and you get a little story about a guy that hit a squad car in tennessee.
however...also note that this same driver did this same thing 2 years before seriously injuring two officers......
yet he still gets to drive. so what really was the issue here? sleep apnea or letting this guy continue to drive? the picture of the school bus is there to really drive the point home i suppose. isn't it curious the government ignores these neon red flashing warning signs continue to drive, then want to regulate and regulate some more when the inevitable happens.
and more video recorders!! we need constant monitoring! it's for "safety"
this is coming:
"The agency recommends a comprehensive medical certification system for drivers that includes a driver’s complete medical history; procedures to identify applicants at high risk for sleep disorders; identification of specific conditions, treatments and medications that initially disqualify applicants for duty; certificates that are good for only a limited time; examiners who are licensed to perform exams and prescribe medications and more"
and it will not be inexpensive. transportation is what...#2 in the nation? thats a hell of a boost to the obamacare program once all these drivers are being screened and "treated" for all this b.s.
and finally, you can expect more of this:
Truck-involved highway fatalities climbed in 2016, NTSB says
but log violations will decrease,so the fmcsa will ignore the increased accident rate, point to the decreases log violations, and declare hos and eld ruling safe and joyous, with liberty and justice for all!!!!
hooray!!! play-do and hot chocolates for all!!! we're saved!!!HopeOverMope, nax and Oxbow Thank this. -

here you go! you're gonna be wearing that eld here in the future.
Tech Toolbox: The future of technology in trucking
we got an former Schneider exec advising on this,so obviously it's ridiculous to suggest it's the mega's pushing this stuff thru, right?
"Don Osterberg, a longtime executive at Schneider National (CCJ Top 250, No. 8) and now an adviser for SmartDrive, which provides a fatigue management system, envisions a scenario in which a driver must take a PVT test at the beginning of his duty cycle to gauge how many hours he or she could work that day"
of course, any propoganda regarding trucking regulation isn't complete withouty this misleading statement...."“In an industry where 4,000 truck-involved fatalities occur every year, do we have a moral obligation as transportation professionals to leverage indicators of fatigue as a way of mitigating future crash risk?”
truck involved? how many trucks were involved in crashed caused by a car that fatigue had nothing to do with?
dan osterberg knows where the money is to be made. get a few senators convinced, and invested and we get a new "morally obligated" mandate thrust upon us to pay for.
i just hope these wearable devices are loose enough for the ELD pom pom wavers to do their fancy kicks and jumps..... -
Ignorance knows no bounds here
