I must have called 20 agents in my area and in other states.
Every single solitary one of them has quoted me Progressive. Not even one of them has quoted me another Insurance Company.
Has anybody else had this happen? Are they absolutely the only company that handles new authorities? Is there anyone else I can call? I'm in PA by the way.
Just wanted to see if it's feasible to run my tractor. But by the quotes I've gotten... I think I'll find something else to do.
Only Progressive?

Problem I'm having is companies want proof of operating for 3 years without a loss. I've got that several times over...just not the proof they are looking for. The insurance I have had has been of the "non-trucking" variety, with the "trucking" portion held by the carriers I've pulled for. Those insurance companies don't track individual drivers, only the fleet...so they cannot provide the proof. The carriers reporting my record is insufficient. Even a clean psp is not enough to prove I haven't caused any wrecks. The insurance companies have tightened up their requirements here lately, probably due to the increase in knuckleheads running full steam ahead into stopped traffic.
Oh well...enjoying my Christmas break, also waiting on IFTA, registration, and truck signs. Then I'll be back at it (still on paper) hopefully staying local often enough to keep within the 8-days-in-30 exemption. If the money is right, though, I do have an ELD I can plug in if I get to day 9 until I get back to 8 or less...then back to paper.brian991219 Thanks this. -
I will call them thank you.

I'm in PA and ran into same issue. None of these other companies would call me back. I said "F" it. I needed to get on the road. IT was 7 grand for 1 million dollar insurance. Or 6k paid in full. I just wound up cutting them a check for 6 grand and went on my way. I'm shore better rates will open up after a year. So ill just shop around when the time comes

Are you kidding me?
If someone told me $7,000 I would jump on top of that.
My quotes are at least double that.
I had an agent tell me it's not that bad because she just signed someone that's paying $26,000 a year.
I told her no offense but that guy's an idiot and he probably will go under before the policy is anywhere near paid up.
I'm sure that some guys pay that, but that's just absolutely insane to me.Last edited: Dec 27, 2017
Justrucking2 and Oldironfan Thank this. -
They probably would be double. I run a Triaxle dump and don't leave state lines. Should have clarified thatJustrucking2 Thanks this.

I think that's a good price for a tri-axle. They're might be somebody cheaper but that's about what they run I think. Plus I'm sure you have general liability if you Haul for the quarries and the contractors.
Tri axles do pretty well around here. Maybe I should buy a tri-axle. If anybody has a tri-axle that needs an engine and a little TLC around Southeast Pennsylvania let me know, LOL.
Tractor insurance rates are too high.Last edited: Dec 27, 2017
