I remember that, we had a similar "accident" up here in Michigan on I-94... It could have been avoided, if these steering wheel holders would have used their CB Radios. I was on I-94 prior to that accident, the roads were terrible and few if any drivers had their CB on... Over 100 trucks were involved, and a few fatalities.

Yes, always try and keep "secondary credit card" for emergency use and maybe keep it someplace other than your wallet and make sure you keep it current and valid. If you're an organ donor, and it's not listed on your DL, keep a donor notice card below your DL position in your wallet. Along with perhaps an In Case Of Emergency Contact Card there, too. If you have potentially serious medical issues, wear a "got tag" necklace or other means of notification for first responders.

In a bad crash, un-pocketed cell phones and loose wallets get lost and especially hard to find in the dark, so anything you can do to be redundant in these matters can be helpful when crap hits the fan.

I've used them mostly for cutting seatbelts. Even if you carry a sidearm, you should keep a blade ready. Less conspicuous and a quicker draw than a gun.

Also, if you have a retired cell phone you're no longer using [that can still work with your carrier], might be a good idea to keep it and it's charger in your truck in the event you break yours or drop it in the toilet, or whatever, then you can maybe make a phone call and get your service re-routed to your backup device until you can get back home to get a permanent replacement.

I was just pointing out how, when Fit hits the Shan, there isnt much time for removing flip flops and putting on pants and shoes. Truck fires happen in the winter too.

EDIT: Notice in the video "Joseph" jumps out of the truck with no coat and shoes in hand? No hat, nothing to cover his head. How long do you think he had to stand out in the cold?

I keep an emergency contact list on my wallet, log book, and permit binder. One of my DOG tags hang on the horn cord, the toe tag is fixed to the pull strap on my boot. You never realize how bad your stuff can get scattered till it's too late.

Seat belts are tougher than most think. Keep the knife sharp.

    And on a related note:

Always keep your phone contacts backed up. And if there are any important phone numbers you don't have permanently memorized because you've always selected them in your phone, write them down and keep them in your wallet.

If that was the bad one a few years ago by Laramie, I was parked behind it in Cheyenne for 3 day at TA.

Tons of stuff. Are you really interested in me listing every last little item, or are you just interested in more unique things?
