Left early this a.m. with a full 14hrs to pick up an Amazon load about 20 miles from our terminal. Load was cancelled and I returned to the terminal 2 hours after I left and went sleeper berth. If I stay sleeper berth 8 hours I should get the balance of my 14 back correct? And then need to do a 2 hour break later. Am I correct?

You don't even need to do the two hours later, the two hours restarts the 14/11 at the end of the sleeper berth break. It's up to you if that's worth your while.

Just to add a little more, yes, you will pause your 14, and keep whatever is left of your 11. If you take the two hour break later, you won't pause anything, so you will just two hours taking the break to get two hours back. Worth it if you are already losing time at another shipper, otherwise it's only worth it if you need to get that 40 minutes of drive time back.

The other question is, were you paid for your time on the cancelled load? You should be. Your company will bill the customer for TONU (Truck Ordered, Not Used). If they don't pay you something for your time and miles, that's not right.
