New law about passengers in trucks?

Federal regulation does address passengers in CMV’s, without getting specific, it simply says the motor carrier must be aware and approve of the passenger.
Most companies have set rules for passengers, some include age limits or even the number of passengers... and in some cases, yes a carriers insurance company gets involved in the rule making because they are on the hook should someone get injured, which is why most companies require a driver to get preapproval for a passenger and in most cases, purchase a “rider’ policy.
As for the federal regulation, it does state that a carried must be aware, a form stating where the trip begins and the date and when the authority/permission to have a passenger ends. -
You will also have to figure any passenger restraint laws in whichever state you are in. I.e. must kids have to be buckled up, etc...
