Chase, Bof A, and the local credit union all wanted a track record of operating a trucking business

How about leveraging the company you're going to be leased on to? Strike a deal with them and after 1 year refinance the truck in your own name, you'll have a track record by then.Oxbow, KANSAS TRANSIT and Midnightrider909 Thank this.

I looked at new trucks in the spring and my bank said 100% what ever I need they would scratch a check for under %5. Only discussed up to $120k though.
I bought a motor for my old truck instead at %4.3.
I had only been in buissness 14 months at that time. I do own some property but they didn't require it as collateral.
Local, 4 branch bank.
I financed my used truck and trailer with them on day one %100, and both were under %5 too.Oxbow, KANSAS TRANSIT and Midnightrider909 Thank this. -
Your not supplying near enough info for anyone to answer that question. You would really need to show your profit and loss and balance sheet to get the answer to your question.
But I can can respond to the practicality of your dilemma. For me your largest concern here is whether you'd rather put 2 or 3 grand a month in to a truck that would basically only need routine maintenance for about 500,000 miles, or 2 or 3 grand a month into keeping the used truck rolling, not to mention losses in down time.KANSAS TRANSIT and Midnightrider909 Thank this. -
The truck that we are going to buy will be in our name, or rather my name. My credit score is higher than my wife’s. Our company does offer a lease operator agreement where you lease a truck from them but you have to pay about 1200 per week and the trucks are old and it makes more sense to buy your own. I am in contact with one of their lease operators and he claims to be making a ton of money so that is an option. There is a waiting list though and last I heard we were six out of seven on their list and we don’t want to be company drivers any longer than we have to. We are each grossing about $1400 per week and I want to at least double that.
