I was also told this by several people. I'll make sure to study hard and get all the endorsements possible. Thank you for the wishes

I wasn't aware that Community Colleges offered CDL courses. Would any company accept that the training came from a College and not a CDL Driving School? Also, I do NOT plan to use my GI Bill for any of this schooling. It'll be paid out of pocket. I do have cash saved up for it, but even if I had to do a school loan, it wouldn't phase me. I just want to make more than I am now. I take about $42k home every year. After taxes and all. I just want a little more. Anything near 50k plus and I'll be a happy camper.

I DO plan to buy a truck later down the line. When I am able to control my expenses and have the experience and Profile built up to get any job I want. As a rookie though, i doubt I could succeed without any experience owning my own truck. Thanks for the motivation though.

I completely understand what you mean. I have no problem doing it like you say. 2-3 months on the road then some time back home to unwind and relax. The only thing I meant by my comment before was that I am not worried about coming home every night. I am worried about making enough money to pay for the bills and then some.

LTL jobs? Haven't heard much about that...ill look into it. And thank you on the community college idea. I had no idea that was a possibility. Also, i am payong out of pocket,i want to savs my GI Bill for 10 years down the road when I wanna take a break, go to school and take an office job. For now,I am hungry to work and earn some cash on the go. I am not expecting miracles, but I know I can make more cash in the transportation and logistics side of things than I do in the Military. Right now I take home about $42k a year after taxes and all, but that's mostly due to me getting housing allowances. Without it, which they will be slowly disappearing over the years....I'd make much less. I just wanna take home closer to $50k a year or more.

Thank you for the info. I had previously researched them. They require a year of experience...so it's not something I can do at this time. I am interested in finding a company I can start as a rookie, but not get paid like a bottom feeder. I want to br able to make hard cash, if I work hard for it. One of the reasons why TMC was one of the few companies I had found that had a stable rookie startup. I am aware there's other companies out there, but its hard to find the ones that take rookies. If you know anyone that hires rookies, but pays well...even if it's not in Texas. Let me know. If it's in Texas, cool....but I will follow the money for now...i have no needs to stay in a single area.

Someone privately messaged me about Estes not long ago. I am looking into them. I dis notice that they require a year experience to drive for them....only issue with starting as a dock worker and moving up to a driver is that I could more easily make up the experience time needed at another company, earning decent cash, and then transfer to Estes when they're ready to hire me. I have an issue with being stagnent and not progressing for too long, but I will contact them and see what they tell me. Thanks for the info.

Trimac does not require a year experience; they hire new cdl grads.
Read Post #15 again. Here's an excerpt from my post: "Locate the Dallas terminals and make a face to face visit with the terminal managers and tell them what you're looking for. Ask which cdl schools they hire from; the terminal manager will have a list of schools."

I'd recommend checking out Danny Herman. They'll bring you on as a fresh CDL holder as long as you did well in your class. Pay is heavily bonus based, and you can easily do 60s and even 70s if you're willing to run. Also, you'll constantly be all around Texas if that's important to you.
