Hardwire from batt to the end of cab with fastcońector.
2feet cable with fastconector and batt clamps like boost cables.
Works for my for yearss

I had the nite system worthless only cooled the cab at night time with the sun down (3 years). Ate batteries then I got TK apu would never look at any thing else. Keeps batteries charged keeps engine warm in winter for start up in 5 below weather ( arctic package) provide me electric for TV, micro wave, computer and espar for heat. Have owned it 7 years on two trucks and replace one alternator best money I ever spend. Plus with TK they have dealer every where to get parts or service if needed. Don't tell about noise dam reefer is way loader then any TK apu. The one APU that should banded is screaming RIGMASTER those piece of junk are LOUD!

 

A.c. side is ok but no barn burner .
Really impressed with heat side !
Runs off the blower moter in the cab and temp adjusts with the sleeper controls .
Pump on the apu circulates warm coolant thru the engine and hvac system.
Hook up the reefer link and both sides will run forever .

 

I've been running a 2017 cascadia evolution for 12 months now and can say with confidence that this factory installed electric apu is the best system that I know of!!!

 

Bought a used 2014 Volvo that has the Idle Free unit in it. I can verify the previous comments about daytime cooling -- idle until sun is almost down and it works fine.

The coolant heater unit inside the APU is a Webasto unit, and when it goes out you can count on a $2k repair bill; mine went out, so now (in the winter) my APU is simply a high-dollar power supply for my in-cab A/C electronics.

I could not recommend the Idle Free APU to anyone -- repairs are high-dollar even when you can find a mechanic or dealership who knows how to work on it, and it simply does not compare in cooling power to a diesel powered unit.
