Did anybody get inspected for ELD yet?

Not DOT but I came on duty this morning and found I had no hours. (After being off for 15)

ELD stopped working around noon yesterday and left me on the drive line FOR EIGHTEEN ####### HOURS!!!!!

I've had it, I've emailed an Attorney. Time to get the ball rolling on that (at the very least as an option, I don't have to pull the trigger on a suit)

I'm not going to have some malfunctioning POS say that I've been on duty for 27 consecutive hours and not have any way to appeal that. What would happen if I got pulled over today for the TINYEST of infractions?

I'd lose my license and my livelihood and pay possibly thousands in fines and legal, and for what? Because a map maker masquerading as a software provider has a defective product.

GPS log still shows the same location for all those driving hours, right?

As I noted in the conversation the events show correctly. Call RM with the correct data and they can fix on the back end.

If you connect to Wi-Fi after 3pm est the run a program in the background to correct them.

It is my understanding that if the ELD malfunctions you can use paper logs until it is corrected (I think the time limit is eight days but not sure). In theory, that would eliminate the concerns you mentioned in your last paragraph above.

    Wow, that's gotta be frustrating.

Yeah Mark and me have a little side conversation going.

I don't have admin functions from my unit in the field so I'm going to have to swing by the safety office today. But from what my tablet is showing ALL log entries from 11:30 on are simply gone. The ELD then extrapolated that since the last thing it "remembered" me doing was driving, it locked it in for the rest of the day.

So I'm going to have to sit down with the VP (who's not exactly my favorite person in the world anyway) and recreate my logs from the admin account (if possible) or just delete them.

My company knows that inspite of my other flaws, I keep a tight logbook. So they're not holding it against me. But the frustration is just maddening.

I'm on the paper log exemption for now.
