I’d be okay with that. As long as I can keep my bills paid. Thank you for the info!

And it's not just any experience they require. It's got to be at least a year of LTL/Linehaul before they even consider you. I've got seven years of combined, long-haul boxes and tankers, and they still wouldn't take me on for a line-haul position.

    Need4Speed Thanks this.

What would be the reason for that?
I'd think long haul and 7 years exp would be more experience then what would be required of a ltl position.

Stupid, super picky is all I'm guessing. I'm also wondering if not living nearby at the time would've made any difference. Last thing I want to do is be forced into a big move and then be bankrupt due to the job drying up.

I imagine it was the distance factor, but ultimately it's up to the terminal manager so I can't say for sure. I was hired on with only 2 years of tanker experience as a combo driver. I now will run a hub run in March on the new bids.

I might go ahead and try out for that particular position again. I put in for the strict, linehaul position and was shut down. But, I imagine the combo driver position would be a little easier to get into with my experience.
Of course after having gotten used to some regular days off in the past, five years, I'll probably have to kiss those goodbye and it's "back of the bus" for my behind again.
