I put in an online App with GTI and recived an E-mail from one of their recruters wanting to talk to me about employment so I called him up and as soon as he found out that I lived roughly 50 miles from their Anderson Ca. drop yard he said the it was too inconvenent for them and could not hire me. I wouldent have a problem with parking my vehicle at or near their drop yard, I have family that lives less than 5 miles from the drop yard but no he wouldent even listen to me and just peeved me off. I mean after all who is he to tell me I live too far away? I have commuted 4 hrs just to go to work and he has the nerve to tell me I live too far from the drop yard.

Maybe he didn't like what he heard over the phone and that was just his excuse.

Man, the things people come up with!! The recruiter had requirements that this dude didn't meet and that's somehow discrimination!? Yeah, okay. I'd hate to see how this guy'd react if he really had a problem.

I think something popped up on his background, mvr, or possibly dac report that the op is not saying.

He may have slipped up on his employment history mentioned something that was not listed on his application and determined that he falsafied his application and they Dq'd him for.

I would say that this is not discrmination.

Now if thay said we do not hire your kind or something along the lines of that then you would haver a case.

If you are a newbie and you attended a school that they do not accept the training from that is not their problem some schools are bad ones.

Did he have a physcial and pee test scheduled that he failed to show up for?

Did anyone not catch his screen name 4X4Junkie

Sorry to speculate on things but that is what happens when we do not have the whole story.

You forgot to mention that you are a black, one-armed, pre-op transexual that speaks only Swahili with a lisp.

    No you didn't forget.
The ONLY way you could have been discriminated against was if you fit into one of the many non-white, non-heterosexual, non-english speaking categories.

What does his screen name have to do with anything?

You must be losing it. I read that as he has a passion (sickness :biggrin_25526:) for four-wheel drives ... you know, Jeeps & stuff.

Well GTI does discriminate. They don't seem to hire drivers that are to far from their drop yard for now. But in this case it is perfectly legal since it does not apply to race, religion, etc...

Many companies are doing some funky stuff these days. In case you have not been keeping up on current event, the economy stinks right now and companies are trying to cut the fat for now. This time next year they may not care if a driver lives 50 mile away from a drop yard. But for now they do.
