I usually get CODs to places like Menards or Home Depot. Who haven't done COD since God was a kinder gardener.
I always tell my dispatcher what's what and she says "well that's where I'm going with it".
her: Call me when you get there, and we can sort it out then.
me: NO, sort it out NOW. So I don't get waylaid by a mistake on the shippers\interline carriers end. Or I CAN GUARANTEE you this is being returned. These people DO NOT do COD.
Then there is the Residential that is COD, but OK to leave.
Spend two hours on an Amish load, that was supposed to be COD. Get there and talk to the leader, its pre-paid, but was supposed to be delivered by another carrier (not mine). So it got flagged COD. Finally got a hold of the shipper. He has the check in hand. Relay it to the carrier, she has no idea what's going on. My dispatcher wants the freight back.
Carrier wants a check, shipper is PO'd about the whole mess, and I'm enjoying a nice conversation with the leader at the colony farm.

I would’ve rather towed it backwards. I got the equipment for the steering wheel tie downs and tie downs for the flares on top of the truck. Normally for a tractor old school sling them from the rear. When you tow a tandem tractor with air suspension, you have to chain up the front axels. Me being fat and lazy I just sling it and everything is covered.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
