Local tractor/ Dump trailer guys

I’m not local but I think tires will depend on how good of a driver you put in the truck!! Also if you’re going in and out of landfills your biggest worrying will be getting a puncture in the tire not wear just my opinion since I’m otr check with other companies that do what you do in your ares they would have the best insight

 

If your in and out of landfills and construction sites your tire budget will have to be huge. Your not going to wear tires out. You will be replacing them because you got a nail in the side wall or some other non repairable damage. I replaced a lot of tires when I drove a roll off truck.and not a single one was due to tread wear. Learn how to replace them yourself and you will save a good bit of cash. Also you will need good tools. Ken tools makes the best tire bars I have found. They ain't cheep but they will save you a ton of frustration. You'll need two of them, a good bead hammer one of the five gallon bead seater tanks and a healthy vocabulary of cuss words till you do a few and have it down.

One other thing to look at. Depending on his supporting equipment a day cab and a dump trailer might not be the best option. A roll off dumpster set up may work better. They are far easier to load if you don't have an excavator or a really big wheel loader on site.

 

I own a day cab and end dump doing local work. I average 50-60k miles a year. Tires depends on the brand, but 100k out of Chinese, and 120k out of name brand would be average.

 

Some days I used to put 550 miles per day on a dump. 4 loads per day. Loaded one way only.
Most days it was 68 miles loads. Haul 7 to 10 loads of hot mix. Then dead had back 68 miles. Anywhere from 25 to 40 miles out each load.

 

I wouldn't worry about how many miles on tires cause chances are you will be replacing them before the thread gets low.I pulled dump trailer for 6 years local running scrap to scrap yards and ash to landfills both suck for preserving tires.
