i've been doing this for dam n near 30 years, recently made the move to Forward Air. i've got one truck in the OTR LTL division (my truck) and one in TLX OTR.
I run as many miles as i want, nad dont waste any time since im just drop and hook at forward air terminals. Never see a customer. Really refreshing as my last couple jobs all had terrible customers
free plates, eld, etc adds up. There are some negatives (i dont have my haz so im penalized .02 on all miles. I know, i need to get it) but i feel like the good way outweighs the bad,
Best company to lease my truck to

1)If...you want One or Two "nites" weekly by the house, then you need to find a company like LANDSTAR...to Run you with Regular/Short runs (500/800 miles x Load) But....ASK/Deal with the Planner and Dispatcher to Schedule them as TEAM.(pick ups and Deliveries) (One or Two nights hometime X week is difficult these days.) (Team/Long Hauls, are usually 1500 miles/ 2000 plus)(give or take). *So, final outcome, Run single driver Loads as a Team, share the "Pennies" with your Team driver, Run more miles,( each of you drive 5 hrs each & you will never run out of hrs.), expose the equipment to constant use, more maintenance and expense. Good Luck with your One or Two nites Hometime..! Happy Trails..!

Landstarve takes the biggest percentage in the industry! Not worth it
DSK333 and Voorhees84 Thank this. -
And what would that be?

If he's anywhere east of the Mississippi River or even in Texas it ought to be no big deal at all getting home for weekends and likely thru the house a time or two during the week. If he's booking his own freight and learning some lanes no problem at all doing that. That's how everyone I know trucks.Brettj3876 Thanks this.

So if you get your hazmat would you just make .02cpm more? Or that's just a penalty and you'd actually make more with the endorsement?
