No turn signals or hazards

    I have a 05 International 9400i and my turn signals/hazards aren’t working. I replaced flasher relay and it shorts immediately along with fuse blowing. I check bulbs, traced wires (not behind dash yet), and relays. What am I missing?

    Maybe bad contacts in the relay panel causing it to arc and create an over amperage surge?

    Do you have to turn on a turn signal or hazard switch before it shorts out?

    No, as soon as I put the flasher relay in it shorts the fuse blows.

    Ok, there is a flasher and relays for the signals. There is no flasher relay, so what is it that you are installing and blowing a fuse? Which fuse exactly? If you are installing the flasher and F2-D (20 amp) is blowing, after the flasher is the signal stat on the steering column. Something is shorted there or in the wiring between it and the flasher.

    Ok, the f2-D (20 amp) is fine until I put the flasher in then the flasher short and fuse blows. Ok I’ll check wiring there. Do you think a bad turn signal switch could cause this?

    It sure could. Anything is possible. Simply unplug it and see of the short goes away. I hope you have breakers instead of fuses, LOL! If it keeps popping the fuse then it must be a wire rubbed through on something in the dash. The wire between the flasher and signal switch is orange in colour, 12 gauge in size and number 55A.

    Thanks for the help Heavy D!! The wire that was rubbing was behind the dash rubbing against the steering column. Thanks again!!
