Hi, my name is Adam, and this is my first post here. I was just "prequalified for employment with Swift Transportation" After i complete the DOT physical and take the class a permit test im supposed to call them to get scheduled to attend the Millington, TN Accademy.
I guess i have a few questions here. First, ive read a few bad things about swift and was kinda worried about joining up with them. Are they as bad as people say? I was also wondering what life was like in the millington, tn accademy? And then my final question is how is greenbay, how far do they have you drive normally, what is starting pay etc. I guess im looking for someone who has taken this training from TN, to Greenbay. Any information would be most greatfull. Thanks!

One of my friends from home is with Swift and is happy as far as using them to get his 6 months Experience, but he is looking at leaving for a better co. soon, He is running a lot of East Coast,
Green bay. Hmmmm I just came through there today, only about 7 inches of snow today, only a couple of rigs in the ditch jack knifed and lots of cars there, I am just north of there for tonight, Last night, down in IN, night before, in Cleveland TN. but I drive for a small Company with only 10 trucks, I love itBirdeye56 Thanks this. -
If you look on here there will be several hundred if not several thousand bad things about them on here -
They've also been known to pull the ol' bait and switch. I applied to drive casually for them, at their advertised per-mile rate for a driver of my experience level. After the 3 day orientation, I finally learned that their definition of 'casual' meant 24/7 on-call, and that I'd be paid considerably less than promised.
Fortunately I wasn't desperate for the job, so I just walked out. I can imagine quite a few others in the classroom wouldn't feel as though they had an option, and I have been there before. JB Hunt pulled the same pay trick on me back when I started.
Their advertised starting pay included a performance/fuel economy bonus that you never really got unless you were on a light/flat gravy-train dedicated run.
Ah, well. Live and learn. -
well, i do think yall are right. I did some more looking and there are maybe 2 good things about swift, lol, the rest is all bad. So i decided to apply at schneider. This would probably be better for me anyway since i could go to the Greenbay Training Accademy which is only 2 hours away from my house. I was looking around their website and they pay inexperienced drivers 6 cpm more than swift does. If they do hire me i think i made the right decision.
I guess now im just looking for good things/bad things about them. Reply if you know anything, thanks.

Thank you for your interest in a driving position with Schneider National.
We have reviewed your application and compared your qualifications to our needs for our open driving positions.
At this time, we do not have a driving opportunity available for you. We will contact you if a driving opportunity becomes available in the near future.
Again, thank you for considering Schneider National.
Sincerely,
Driver Recruiting
Schneider National Carriers, Inc.
I have sent to about 25-30 different carriers to no avail! Good Luck.....

Schneider is concentrating on hiring experienced drivers and will only be running very limited training out of their Green Bay facility. They are not really a starter company any longer.
With almost 3,000 trucking companies having filed bankruptcy this year through September, there are a lot of experienced drivers on the market too.Birdeye56 Thanks this. -
