TMC, Swift, Crete if its an approved one, Con Way Truckload, Melton, Knight, Scneider (if they still don't have the freeze), Werner. One piece of advice; Avoid CR England at all cost.

Schneider still has a hiring freeze as of 12-07-08.

 

Central refrigerated is a good starter company.

 

Werner has a good training program... once you have a trainer. That can be a challenge. Here in Omaha we run into a lot of Werner trainees looking for trainers, and, oddly enough, trainers looking for trainees! Sometimes at the same time... seems the two sides don't talk much! It is a STARTER company, though. They don't pay as much as some. I did not realize Crete took trainees.

 

Roehl, I've been with them for 6 mos. & don't have anything bad to say about them. They have been keeping me rolling & pretty anal about running legal...the way it should be.

 

USA has a freeze till jan along with many starter companies. I got a phone call from CRST today saying they still have miles and are still hiring. But they are teams. as for werner the girl told me yesterday they will get you on a truck by the time you leave orientation. so I dunno...I know I left school and have been waiting for 3 weeks to get picked up for training...and then I was told yesterday I would be waiting till jan. Which doesnt help with bill sor a holiday for my kids and my girlfriends kids...

 

Crete, if nothing has changed, will take trainees ONLY if you went to one of the few schools they approve of.
