2 straps are legal ASLONG as they are diagonal and weight rated with the tag legible.
I know this because I had 3 straps on a car in the belly and one of the tags wasn’t readable. I was told by the inspector that if that strap was on a different tire it would be a violation.

I was audited by Mercedes last week. Had all four straps on my cars. Got a 100%. Another truck loading near me was audited also. He short strapped a few. It may be legal to 2 strap but if you haul OEM's and they catch you without 4 on it's a real PITA to have to climb allover the truck to put the rest of them on!!! And again nobody wants to be "that guy"!!! He tried arguing and was simply asked if he didn't want to be invited back.

Had heard Toyota did the same at the Princeton IN plant & assuming elsewhere too.

On a separate note. Was on autoblogs site last night & found this. German truck with a Rolls Royce vehicle. Had not seen a set up before with wheel blocks on the front. Standard straps on the back.

Nissan routinely audits trucks at the outbound gate in Smyrna. They had a broker truck surrounded one day by multiple security cars. He had chained all the units and Nissan was having him unload and leave empty.

I wonder if the block itself is movable to accommodate different wheelbases?

Oh I bet that guy was happy! I've seen Toyota make Drivers unload for using the lasso type straps also.

Security told me he didn't speak any English so even if he had straps he didn't understand they wanted him to use them.

Google sucks at finding German auto transport EQUIPMENT. It wants to link to every crap broker that ships internationally. However found this, photo attached. Looks like they lock down independently.
May be you are suppose to use blocks & a strap on all four wheels?
So the guy moving that cheap one off test mule for Rolls Royce was cutting corners? ;)

Well that's a waste of an extra step and more crap to carry! 4 straps seem to be working fine. I haven't lost any cars...YET!!!

I ran 2 straps.all the time if.car was sitting pretty flat on top, only one strap belly and under head rack, all the way to Cali and back for 8 years,However pick ups angled cars and heavy stuff got 3to 4.but I always got my straps.even and tight.after first 300 if nothing got loose it was good the whole trip.most guys don't get straps tight enough and need 4 ,cause 2 of them will be off in 30 miles .I never lost a cars ,1 ding in 8 years that was circled from factory loaded at night missed it on condition report.0 cargo claims, many ,at least 50 ,thank God they didn't see thats.A real pro can lightly damage a car and through lighting , slight of hand ,gift of gab ,dirt, luck, and a friend with a body shop, get away with a few.If not you'll be out of business fast
