Two other oop’s in my company are the old-timers who got their DOT #’s decades ago and they do not have MC # as far as I know. They do have IFTA accont’s in their OWN company’s name, and file that way under their own DOT #’s. Than they are leased to the carrier company and have lease agreements that say that they are responsible for their own ifta. My question arose bc I was trying to do it the same way they do, but it does not seem to be possible anymore.
DOT number without an MC number when leased to another carrier. How to do that?

I don't know about Ohio, but in Miss you don't have to have a DOT # to get a plate if you are leased to a carrier. You used to, and you had to update the DOT# for Registration Purposes only before you could get a plate. They did away with that a few years ago. I assumed it was the same way in other states.

Here’s the guidance from the training manual from the head honchos, but what do I know. -
I hope not. I got my own plates im running under carrier leased to under their MC
-
Registration only numbers were done away with a few years ago.........
But I don’t know.. -
Not true if your leased you show them the contract
-
Of course they were, otherwise they would have typed in the “registrant only” DOT number. You know, the one @PoleCrusher says you have to have, even though they were all out on inactive and unavailable in what, 2012?

On my registration, my DOT # is listed as the registrants, the carrier I'm leased to is listed as the DOT# responsible for safety. That's the way I was told it has to be done by the lady at the IRP office. My MC#, which is not active, is not shown, the carrier's is.
And yes I had to supply a copy of the lease contract, and both DOT #s were checked. This was done 2 days ago.
I don't know, maybe the lady at the IRP office was an idiot, but I got my plate. And I just got off the phone with FMCSA, the guy I talked to said everything checks out and was done correct according to regulations. Maybe he's an idiot too. -
Registration only numbers ended in December, 2015, according to what I read on FMCSA's website. That was when the URS came online.

If you've been running your own trucks since 2001, I'd say you probably know quite a bit.
