I don't know if that's practical. SOME frozen and SOME canned goods are perfectly fine to rely on much of the year, and can keep costs (menu prices) manageable. The trick is having the right foot service supplier who can meet your higher requirements, as well as have affordable, reputable produce supplier

It would be absolutely impossible for anything resembling my favorite food to come from anywhere in Central Illinois.

I want an egg sandwich like my mom makes. Seriously, I’d eat them every day.

Fry up an egg (or two) with a broken center. When the egg is just about done, butter two slices of white bread with a generous amount of soft REAL butter. Throw them in the pan, butter side down. After the butter melts into bread , place the egg in the middle of the two slices, butter side out, along with enough REAL Colby cheese about 1/8” thick to cover the egg and three paper thin slices of deli ham. Continue to toast it in the pan, flipping it until the cheese is melted and the bread is a very light golden brown with no charcoaled spots.

I once tried to get a little Mom and Pop restaurant in North Carolina to make me one. It was way too dry, like they’d popped it in a toaster, sparingly buttered it and then assembled it. They also used fake cheese slices.

The sandwich should be oily enough that it has a deep fried texture when it’s done. No dry spots in the bread at all.

If you can make me one of those, I’ll live in your parking lot until I run out of money and have to go back to work again. Lol

Well I'm from south Louisiana. So I would request crawfish etouffee, boudin, cracklins, gumbo, jambalaya, fried catfish, shrimp and rice and gravy.

If you would put those things out, you'd have truckers coming in from Canada to eat there.

For the love of God would it be too much to ask for a large serving of a clean lean protien source with some veggies that aren't drown in butter...there's a few of us drivers out here that take our health and fitness serious. I know we're in the minority and I wouldn't expect the entire menu devoted to such but as an option for those of us that are trying it would be wonderful.

Connecticut has a chain of hot dogs ... Frankies hot dogs. They have the best dogs because they are deep fried and served on toasted new england hot dog buns.

A new england hot dog bun Has white sides. They butter the sides and toast them on the grille.

Google frankies hot dogs and new england hot dog buns.

If your local bakery wont make new england buns, you can take regular bun and slice the “side skin” off to expose the white bread underneath. Or look up how to make em yourself, real easy.

Check out sheetz they have made to order food 24 hrs.. tuna sandwich, burgers, dogs, pizza, blt ... anything 24 hrs.

Shell gas station on i-49 in louisiana has a 24 hour bakery. The smell brings people back again. They bake breads and cakes. They’ve got it set up real nice with wicker baskets full of breads.

Subscribe to convenience store magazines, they’re free of charge and full of ideas.
