    That is exactly what I was thinking.

    Looking a the report, I was surprised that "393.201(a) Frame cracked / loose / sagging / broken" isn't a OOS. I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around a officer saying "your frame is broken, here is your ticket, and you're ok to head on down the road".

    A lot of time there will be a small crack in a bolster or fishplate. If the crack is small and runs between only two bolt holes or rivets it's usually not an OOS.
    As long as it doesn't have the possibility of weakening the frame structure itself the DOT...in our area anyway, usually just cites you and you get it repaired.
