Unless you specifically have your truck spec'ed with a 13k+ front end. Either way if you only need 12.5k then manufacturer spec will suffice.

I have volvo 670 and utility dry van box. I'm surprised that you weigh only 1000 lbs more with your reefer set up. I thought 3-4 k more at least.

I also run a Volvo 670... How big is your sleeper?... I have a 39 inch wide mattress.

I would not be able to tell, really. I did not even know there could be different sizes of 670s. It seems regular like all the Volvos 670 that Swifts and Knights used to have. It has no APU, I do carry chains and tanks are 250 gallons of combined capacity.

    Cattleman84 Thanks this.

    Right on time topic..thx OP

My Volvo's registration says tractor is UNLADEN weight is 16,800 lbs. I'm adding a 150gal tank (1,050lbs of fuel) to my tiny 150gal tanks.

    Does it mean I can scale 80,000 - 16,800 (truck) - 1,050 (fuel) - 10,000 (trailer) = 52,150 ????

I find that hard to believe...

I know that the trucks my company gets are custom spec'ed a little, but not sure how much... My Volvo has a diesel bunk heater and small refrigerator, no apu. I've also noticed that I have a little shorter wheel base than some that I have parked beside. I have heard some of the other guys that I work with refer to our trucks as "3/4 trucks"... My 5th wheel is not adjustable and when hooked to a reefer there is barely enough room for me (skinny) to get between the reefer unit and the sleeper, if I need to open the reefer unit covers open all the way I either have to unhook or turn the tractor at a bit of an angle to the trailer to allow me to open 1 side all the way.

That should explain the small weight difference then. My catwalk gives me some room and I can slide the 5th wheel too. Interesting. I could only imagine that single drive axle trucks could weigh so much less or day cabs.

Yep that would be the difference... My company hauls a lot of bulk potatoes that pay by the 100 weight... So they probably spec their trucks to be a little lighter, so as to be able to put a little more weight on.
