I'm really considering leaving the ltl world and enter the trash hauling business. I have 20 years at my current ltl company I have a a.m. run 530 miles a day make big bucks but the interstate driving has really gotten bad in the last 5 years plus all the cameras, beepers etc in the tractors make it worse. It's a easy job I just don't enjoy it anymore. My new gig would be a front loader steady days start out 21.00 hour it's a union job great benefits and retirement it's 50 + hours a week with OT I already work 50 hrs so not a problem. Just tired of being a robot driving down the road. I already have 10 years in the union so this would be a plus. It's all local work in my hometown. It's a hard decision because of the pay cut but money is not everything to some people. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks
