It's not what guys who drive on mud say "AHH CUMMINS". What's the whole when the isx didn't had great lucks. Never tried the n-14 but the isx04 engine. That engine was weak with 400 hp.

I know this is an old thread but where did you find the useful life limit of an engine I’m thinking about pulling out my isx and putting in a 3406e but I don’t want the truck to get impounded or something if you get caught. Thanks

Ok that's what they say the useful life is, I don't see where it says you can do what ever you please after that, and see lots of little notes on supplemental testing.

    you are right.

As far as I know usefull life means that manufacturer must garantuee and proof that engines meet emission requirements during this usefull life.
They have to proof this using components that have reached usefull life, or aged components (for example these components can be put on accelerated wear cycles to represent components that have reached the end of the usefull life).

It does not mean that you can just go ahead and change all sorts of things like removing emission components (EGR/DPF/SCR)

    40 CFR 1037.655 - Post-useful life vehicle modifications.

El turbo and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

    We
We have recently put an N14 and an 18speed RR in a 2006 RSeries Scania. It was all pretty straight forward even though the Scania has 5 computers and a co ordinater. Emissions were compatible. The only oversight I didn’t realise was the Scania runs 3.1 diffs and now with the 18 speed is very quick . Really nice to drive just use 15/16 when loaded and 18th delivers 1200 rpm @ 90km and slightly over 2km per litre when 50%loaded. Can’t go wrong with a good old N14

swaan, jsnell and Socal Xpress Thank this.
