If that’s how you feel cool. Smoke and drive.

Personal opinions aside. It don't really matter if you agree or not. Get caught with any of the prohibited substances especially while actually driving your headed for trouble. Refusing to test won't make it go away either.

See this is what drives me nuts. People like you assuming that since someone, a grown ### adult, chooses to smoke in their private time, then they MUST be driving a CMV while high. We can’t even have a conversation until you and people alike stop this assumption.

I have always been hired on the spot when I apply for a driving job...I have a good employment record - had one non-driving job for 30 years, then a cdl school and four years driving experience, a clean driving record, a clean criminal background check, and a clean drug testing record....I have never worked for a mega, and never will because they can’t give me what I want.

Guys need jobs. Trucking is a job....go to school for 160 hours and get a job. People that have used drugs decide they will give up drugs to get a job, or think they can beat a drug test, or give up drugs and then fall off the wagon.....they all have questions on how they may have screwed up their new job, or how not to screw up their new job.

People that are getting paid $7.50 an hour, or $16,000 per year see that in trucking they can get paid double that with a mega.

The megas will hire every person that applies, and then screen out the rejects with drug testing. Usually the driving record check, and background check are done before the job offer, so some are screened out then. Applicants are surprised how easy it is to get hired, but then find the only thing standing between them and their job is a drug test.

What really scares them is how far back a hair test can go....so they want to go with companies that only do urine testing, as that only goes back about 30 days.

Those that have been through a mega orientation can answer your questions on the washout rate there.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I didn’t mean smoke and drive simultaneously. I just meant that you are free to rebel against the system. Do it on your time, drive your truck etc. just don’t cry when you lose your license because you’re a “martyr”. I personally don’t have a problem with weed. Don’t care for it personally but done my share as a teenager. Live and let live I say. But the rules are what they are. So I would just not recommend it if a commercial driver.

First of all I agree with your position. I honestly do. I for one find it silly that a driver can't light up while off duty and stay qualified to drive. Yet can open up a beer and be perfectly legal and qualified just can't drive for a few hours.

The thing is however this is a truckers forum and the official position has got to be smoking is improper as is advising someone how to go around testing. Im not saying your doing this. Just saying in general most if the time when a poster asks a drug related question they have a low post count. A lot of the people in these forums have noticed this and act accordingly. Hince the druggie attitude we have. My comments are not designed to start a flame war. Just trying to summarize how some of us are.

It is nearly impossible for me to understand everyone’s point of view on drug use. Too many opinions. But I can say without a doubt, I am so happy to not be using or addicted to any drugs. I’m free. Free to be me.

No wars started and no feelings hurt. I’m not advocating a way to cheat drug tests, or people to get high and drive. I personally don’t even like cannabis, hence my quitting. It’s just frustrating some people’s attitude toward guys like ad356, that if he chose to smoke on his off time, then he must have intentions of driving while stoned. That attitude hinders real discussion. As does the attitude that I’m sure some have where they want nothing but to get around the drug test and continue their drug use on the road. Both are unproductive, no?

I kicked it all years ago. Even alcohol. That person was unhappy, unhealthy, and a slave. No more. No more living in a nightmare. I used to have pleasant dreams during the night and then I would wake up to realize I’m actually living a nightmare. Booze was the worst in the end. But that’s all history now.
