Hi guys I graduate from a trainer school here in the Carolinas tomorrow. So far PTL has been on me for a hire. Any other good companies for me? I have a common law robbery charge that ended in '14. Is PTL any good? Or recommendations please?

Put some more apps out there. Many companies look at a criminal record on a case by case basis and not necessarily go by what's on the website. Do the online applications before any phone calls. Then call and say, "I'm checking on my job application."
    Senn Freight Lines in Newberry,SC
Carolina Southern Inc. in High Point,NC (www.carolinasoutherninc.com)
TransAm - can do ok there if you don't get involved in leasing a truck.
    Roadtex Transportation
    USA Truck
Freymiller - best refrigerated outfit out there for new cdl grads. www.drive4freymiller.com and click on "Restore Program" which is for new cdl grads.
    Southern Refrigerated Transport
Mountain River Trucking - Mount Airy,NC
Carolina Cargo - Rock Hill,SC - pay is really low and runs teams to California every week.

Current law says you don't have to disclose your criminal record. It doesn' have any thing to do with driving so act like it doesn' exist. Very few companies would pull your criminal record.

Second note... there is a website... truckdrivingjobs or some such where you put In one application and it goes to a great many trucking recruiters. I did and had 25-30 responses the same and next day. Ended up working for Elite Express in Pennsauken NJ

Thank you all. I just graduated yesterday.
Now I have a week full of phone calls. Common law is from SC it's basically a petty theft but higher and technically a robbery but lower. Idk SC is complicated.

Section 16-11-325 provides that "the common law offense of robbery is a felony. Upon conviction, a person must be imprisoned not more than 15 years." Many folks are charged with and convicted of strong-arm robbery each year in South Carolina, and the statute above is the only authority found in the code.Apr 28, 2014

common law robbery in South carolina - Google Search

seems he was only charged, not convicted however....???

Don't forget; if the company has an online application, submit that before calling. It's easier to be hired if they can pull up your application on their computer when you call and say, "I'm checking on my job application."
    Good luck!

    Wrong.

Only 12 states don't allow a potential employer to ask, the rest do.

Some are restrictive, like seal records but you can be asked.

If you don't disclose it, you can be fired for lying on the app.

I do with every applicant, it has to be disclosed because of the nature of the work we do with some customers who do not allow felons of any sort to handle their products because of the value of it.

A lot of companies who have high value customers under contract do the same thing as I do.

By the way there are only a couple types of crime that will cause me to not hire people, one of them is a sex abuse of any sort. Outside of those few, I could care less.
