    Ok.. I get that. It takes a little time to know what to do in that situation.
    But, after the first time it should be burnt into your brain pretty well how to alleviate that problem.

    The issue you had at the dock... MOST of us never set our trailer brakes in the winter time.
    Specifically for this reason.
    It won't eliminate frozen drums on a dropped trailer, but nothing will.

    The only other thing you could have done is had a small torch to use to heat those drums.
    It works.
    Even a small one like you can buy at the counter that the crackheads use to melt their rocks works just fine.
    $5... and it'll save your tail.

    But, I get it. The game has changed.

    I'm not sure where your getting anger in that reply. A question was asked and answered. Information was requested that was not really needed to understand the point. I indicated that in the reply. It was a matter of fact reply and in my opinion not done so in anger or being disrespectful to that poster. Now if you want to see angry and snarky try this one on for size. Your not an admin on these boards, stop acting like one! -- that or words close and simular to it has been sent to me in PMs more times then I can count.

    Training is really structurally bad.

    It would be more training if you had gone to Syria and presented yourself to fight for Iran or something and they tell you to get this weapon and clear that building. And if you get killed? They remember you as a Martyr.

    Knowing how to free up brake shoes is the difference between a real truck driver and a steering wheel holder. And let me tell you real truck drivers are getting scarce.

    Not really, they come here to TTR to tell the newbies how to do it. Then 1000 other real truckers amend, correct, rephrase, joke around, insult etc etc etc. Poor newbie... he he he.

    I was speaking to an old driver about general trucking subjects a few days ago. I made the comment then and will repeat it here. Most of these snowflakes today would never last back in the old days. The ACs (if truck had one) were not all that good. They either froze you or you was hot all the time. The bunks were not all that much bigger then a regular size coffin. No room much for anything. You stored your clothes in a garment bag hung up on the end of the bunk and your other clothes in a suitcase along with a tool box in a side compartment. Almost all tractors were cabovers. Those things were hard to get into and out of. No APUs. I can't remember about the bunk heaters. NO QCs most carriers required a daily check call and you had to call once you got empty. No IFTA, in states like Mississippi if you were from out of state and did not buy fuel instate under some circumstances you could actually be arrested. If you were to call your company to have a service person to come out to un-stick a brake they would laugh at you. Heck some company's kept tires in wheel racks and EXPECTED a driver to change it. Different times to say the least.
