Sounds like a lot of water vapor in your system. I'm guessing your dryer is more than a year old. Should be changed yearly.

I changed the dryer in November cause I was getting tons of water in the tanks. The air dryer completely froze up on me about a month ago. Was on side if the road and I bypassed the dryer to get it home. Put new filter on it and it still was not allowing air through. So I bypassed it again. Could me bypassing be the issue? I have been religiously draining system and have had to add alcohol twice since then. BTW I am sitting in the truck now, first day that we've been above freezing and it's working normal. I had alcohol sitting in the red line overnight and had a feeling that when the outside temp got above freezing it would work.

Just the cartridge or the whole air dryer? Ad 9 dryers usually get a bunch of oil build up in the ports and passages. But so do other dryers.

I replaced the whole thing in November and bought an extra filter as I was thinking about the amount of water It was draining that it wouldn't last long when winter got here. Apparently I should've replaced the filter at Thanksgiving time. It also developed a leak on the wet side of the second tank about a weak ago. I'm about to just gut the whole air system and start fresh. It's working normal now for the first time this week. Not counting the leak in the tank. The leak is small but is directly on bottom of wet side of tank where it sets on cross frame. There's even a hole in the cross frame rail that leads me to believe there might be a blow out valve or plug that's loose. I can't see it but I haven't spent that much time on that yet as I was more focused on the trailer valve supply not getting air. Now I'll go on to that leak.

What air dryer are you using? How many axles with trailer? If you are still getting a lot of water after a new dryer, then it may be too small for the system requirements if you have a lot of lift axles. Also, never add alcohol before the air dryer, always add after it in the air system as alcohol destroys the desiccant material inside the filter.

Looks like I'm going to replace the air tanks as the leak there is obvious and needs taken care of. The red valve works fine today now that the temp is above freezing. After I replace tanks tomorrow I'm going to fill the system with alcohol before I hook the air dryer up and work the brake until I see alcohol pouring out of the relay valve in back of truck.

Does your air dryer have a heater in it and is it being powered?

You do know that the o rings in your valves don't like all that alcohol?

    Oxbow and Goodysnap Thank this.

An automatic drain valve on the wet tank will help
