With the economy the way it is. Is it wise to leave my current job and start in the trucking industry? Please Respond... Thanks

Depends on what that current job is, what the future holds for it and the pay that it has, because you probably won't be getting good mileage rates when you break into the trucking industry, so even though things may look bad now, staying with the job might be the best move

Might want to wait a few months. Quite a few companies have hiring freezes in place or have closed their schools for the time being.

Trucking seems to be taking a hit lately from the economy. With an over abundance of people leaving their jobs for trucking and the slowing of freight it is not a real good time to become a truck driver. It will cost you around 5-6000 dollars to go through school and a lot of companies currently have a hiring freeze. Maybe if you have your heart set on it try calling companies directly and ask them what's going on hiring wise. There are also many companies taking the time to weed out the idiots so if they are hiring they may be looking for people that are responsible and have good work ethic. This could mean you! Personally I wouldn't leave your job to do it, but it your absolutely strapped you may give it a shot. Good luck!

If you can get any job take it, but don't quit one hoping to get another job. a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush..
make sure you can get hired first, and make sure you can drive that thing. a lot of people can drive, but cant put up with the hours we have. Sleeping at any time and driving at any time.
Can really mess with the body

I think there is a thread or two about Central that should have some answers. Use the search feature at the top to search 'Central' and specify 'Threads' not 'Posts'.
