You absolutely need an ELD if the truck you are driving classifies as a commercial vehicle (26,000 lb GVWR or higher) and you drive further than 100 miles away from your home terminal or over state lines (there are short-haul exemptions) and does not fall under the 1999 engine year exemption. You either need to tell them it's the law and you refuse to drive until one is installed, or run away very quickly.
jammer910Z Thanks this. -
It's not for you to worry run it. Maybe the state's you run are not looking to enforce eld. And until April nobody is enforcing ELD. So run paper.
-
what do you mean its not til april?
-
Exemption for enforcement until April.
@Chinatown knows more or @TROOPER to TRUCKER may know. -
so if i have them order one then ill be ok to drive until it comes in
-
Well if you have a faulty one then just do paper.
-
Driver will be ticketed but no OOS until April.jammer910Z and Tb0n3 Thank this.
-
The exemption is only for oos. One can still get a ticket for no eld.
That being said, do you log at all? Or do you run under the timecard exemption?
If you run under the timecard exemption you don't need one....
