I drove for Knight for almost 3 years. I never had a real problem there, they have a lot of little problems, but nothing major. When I was over there They only required 6 months experience and a driving school and that had to have occurred in the last year. My understanding is that they now require a year experience and a driving school and you cannot have more than a 3 month gap between your last driving job and them.
A lot of companies will require you to take a refresher course. If you came off the road in April( that is some 8 months ago almost) most carriers see that as to long and will make you take a refresher driving course, and then they will start you out as a new driver if they will hire you. SO essentially you may be starting over. My advise is that if you want to get back out driving is you may want to consider hopping in a dump truck for a while and at least you are driving that way and try to find somebody local who will hire you. Like I said, You're probally looking at starting over if you go to a national carrier. You might also try a local beverage hauler, like COke or one of the beer distributors--they are always looking for experienced tractor-trailer drivers. -
Never thought I'd say this but TransAm was actually a pretty decent place to work. I just wouldn't recommend the lease program!!!

that gap thing might be a problem but you can try maybe KLLM they have a terminal in alanta, ga they seem too be a decent company. They were going too hire me but I had blood pressure issues when I went for orientation but got that tooken care off and working for someone else know. But Kllm drivers seem happy the few that i've talked too.

also they hire students so they would probably be able too get you with a trainer.

Maybe you shouldn`t be too picky right now.If you can get any trucking job do so now before things dry up even more.I don`t think it will be as easy to find a job by early spring.

Speedy am in the same situation ur in kinda lol i've been off the road for two years off schneider have like 9 months all together and am thinking about going to Trans Am trucking and have thought about prime my BF thinks they have a good lease program. i would like to ask why you wouldn't have gone back to them.
-
welll i was goin to go back to them but since i owe them money for the cdl when i got it through them the only way they would take me back was if i was a co driver and there a co driver makes .12 a mile....if you go there DO NOT LEASE!!!!!!! they make it sound like that is the only way you can make money but i leased i got my truck in dec of last year and by april of this year i had to come offf the road to get a steady job so i could save my stuff from being repoed.....but on the other side there are some drivers makein it work for them but i couldnt i am either goin to marten or western express for the time bein my problem is i cant decide if i wanna go back into flatbed now or not

try Conway/CFI they will do a week training program and take you in as a solo driver. I have a thread about cfi/conway you could check out .I havent had any problems.
