Yes maybe but I am told it is because you take the rig home on off time and they give you a load close to home for that reason. Makes sense to me.......My mom lives in Florida still, maybe i'll use her address!

well bird, there is a macro requesting home time, and you punch in a zipcode. it might work. i am lucky and dont have a nagging wife or ex wife wanting child support. I just have a dog that my parents are watching till i can sneak her on my truck, but i first have to feel comfortable driving and know what the #$%! i'm doing....so i dont really require 'home time' to actually be AT HOME...so my DM knows as long as i can get by my folks place, or Louisville, KY or Houston, i'm good. I have no problem staying out for 10-14-20 days........JUST KEEP ME ROLLING !!! :biggrin_255:

I hear ya! I do have a wife but she is busy with her fashion design showroom she owns and my daughter is in a local community college and I hardly see her anyway with her school and work, so my little Jack Russell I can sneak on the truck from time to time too, so I am available to stay out on the road as long as I want as well!

Thanks and be safe out there,

you got a Jack too, huh? do u work for swift? (i would PM you, but i dont have 50 posts yet) I stay out so long, and only hit a terminal once every 7-10 days to drop off paperwork, i could get away with getting my dog on the truck. Just dont need anymore distractions right now. =)

Yea man she's great! I am trying to get into Swift for weeks now but am told there is no room in the Syracuse,NY training facility! I have a shot at Watkins & Shepard out of Missoula,MT but it's $4,000.00 for training and I already have old experience and my CDL-A with N&T endorsements!

Consider this too. If you're not too sure about Swift, you can always change carriers.

Here's your best bet from someone who checked out all the options....

Go with Swift and do the school. Work for them for 2 years. That way, school was free (They reimburse you all $3900 over 2 years). Then consider your options. You can now (as long as you have a good safety record) do one of 5 things...
    1) Stay with Swift as a solo driver
    2) Leave Swift for another carrier
    3) Leave/Stay and become a Team Driver (more miles/more money)
    4) Stay and become a Mentor. (You make your miles, plus student's miles, plus more)
    5) Buy a truck and become an O/O

With 2 safe years under your belt, these are all available to you.
Good luck in whatever you choose!

That Macro works. Just make sure to punch it in no less than 14 days ahead of time and you'll have no issues.

You can put in any zip code in the US. Want to visit San Diego? OK! Tulsa? Sure! Maybe New York City? Ummmm....Well....No, not with a big truck...lol

Good thing I don't have to go to Swifts school, just orientation in Syracuse,NY for 4 weeks then in my own truck. I spoke to my recruiter this morning and she says should have an opening 12/22 so I have to call her back then. I have others in the works as well but prefer Swift.

    Thanks,
