What company are you with now? I get charged 15% + Insurance + Trailer. Have to wait all day in a load, get loaded late, & then have to drive all night to deliver the next morning. I'm searching for a more organized company with their own contracts!

I'm an owner operator that never goes home, no reason to. This company says they have customers but 90% of the loads I haul are load board broker loads. I'm looking for a good company that's better organized, has customer contracts, and keeps their promises when I'm told I will get detention and layover.

Then that would be illegal! Under the fmcsa lease agreement it specifically states that the CONTRACTOR has the right to attain a copy of the rated freight bill. You guys better quit being had by these carriers.

Sorry for the late reply. That company sold out to Transport One (a new company) out of Tupelo, MS. Probably the same deal.
The previous owner (now just a manager with some kind of power complex) decided to, shall we say, "tighten down". The new contract is to put it mildly 'aggressive'. I bought a truck and trailer and maintain, fuel it for my benefit not anybody else's.
This fact seems to keep getting lost in the mix.
I do not care WHAT the paperwork says when you are setting up a trucking company at the end of the day I am the boss not the so called owner. There is an illusion that having the authority and an office somehow puts you in the driving seat.
    NOT SO.
    No OO's no company.
I ran into this at my 15%er. It is why I did not renew my contract and went elsewhere.
Reseting my authority now because I have had enough of giving somebody else a percentage and paying extortionate insurance just so they can work the boards and the phones. I can do that myself.
The ONLY reason to lease onto somebody big or small is because they have exclusive well paying freight. If they don't then it is just an expensive load finding service. ESPECIALLY if you then have to deal directly with brokers.

To Status if you are reading this and we know you are, yes indeed, you made a bad enemy with me.
Threats, bribery, cajoling nothing has worked has it? Your attorney failed but I did get the money back that you stole from me.
I applaud this forum owner because he has stood his ground unlike every other weak kneed 'forum' this one actually has bite.
By simply using search I have saved myself several problems. Avoided companies that are clearly cheaters or disasters or religious nuts.
I am glad we have Truckers Report.

    superflow and Lonesome Thank this.

    Shawn,
Are you asking for the name of a specific carrier or is this just a general question?

Do yourself a favor and search the forum for them.
    Then read.
They will come on like they are a big corporation with all that silly jargon. Once onboard it won't take but a short while for them to reveal themselves. They will want to fine you $250 for logbook violations whether it is in your contract or not. They will attempt to cheat you out of money here and there. A mysterious trailer charge will materialize despite not being in the contract.
The crowning glory is the company shell game. All drivers are actually leased onto a corporate shell company. That company then in turn leases en masse all its drivers onto Status. So you actually lease to Stakus Transportation but you are working for Status Transportation. The logo on your door gives the MC # of Statkus but the name of Status.
None of this will be revealed to you when you sign on.
Met a driver in El Paso who got turned inside out by the DOT at a weigh station over that. He went to Home Depot and bought some letters to correct it. It is done to stand themselves off from any legal problems. That should tell you everything you need to know about whether you should lease onto them or not.
Do yourself a solid get your own authority.

If you want to work for the Russian Mafia then lease onto Status Transportation. After working for Status for almost 3 years let me give you some of the highlights of their company and the cut throat Russians that own and are employed by this company.
If you try to leave their company they will REFUSE to verify your employment with the company you're looking to go to. They will tell you to your face that by law they don't have to verify your employment for 30 days so they force you to stay with them.
They steal from your line haul by taking their percentage and then taking more of the price of the load that the broker confirms. When you ask for the email confirmation of the fax from the broker they will change the price on it and take hours to send it to you.
They don't have staff working 24/7 to assist you.
There's lots of brokers that will not work with them so they'll constantly tell you there's nothing available. For example Dallas in June I'm stuck for 4 days because they said there's nothing available. We all know that's a lie since that's a big hub.
Your paychecks will be $200 for weeks in a row due to their lack of loads available to them.
They do not assist in anyway with tires or repairs if you break down. I took my truck to their shop in Georgia and their mechanic broke a part in my engine. It took them 6 weeks to get the part and repair my truck. They did not pay not one red cent for my hotel, food or loss of income. Then after me paying for a hotel and rental car and food and my bills for 6 weeks with no income they refused to make a payment plan for the other parts that they insisted they needed to change because they had to open up my entire engine and couldn't put the old parts back in. Eventually when they realized I could only pay $1000 of the $9000 bill they broke up the bill into installments because they realized I just didn't have the money. Once you did get away from their grasp, they tell you by law they don't have to give you your escrow back until 45 days. They really try to spite you in every way possible that they can come up with

    izifaddag Thanks this.
