Welcome aboard! There are plenty of posts on here about Stevens in the good, the bad, and the DAC reports. You may want to read them to help you know what to expect.

Since you are new, I will forego the MANY retorts that are coming to mind in any of the experienced drivers who read your question!

DAC is an agency (actually USIS now, but everyone still calls it DAC) trucking companies use to keep each other informed about a driver's past history. On "DAC" report, a company can report if a given driver had any accidents, abandoned trucks, or anything they want the rest of the industry to know. It is extremely subjective and open to whatever the person making the report wants to say. It is used by companies hiring drivers to see what other companies have to say about said driver. As you can see, there is endless opportunity to destroy a driver's career should you get on a company's bad side. They really can make sure you never work in this industry again.
This site gives US, the drivers, the opportunity to "DAC back" and pass on our experiences with the companies we work for.
    Hope that helps.
I have not heard much about Stevens, which is probably a GOOD thing. Companies that are "bad" get PLENTY of press in this site, on the road, and in the truck stops!

I dont make it a habbit here or any where to post any negative comments about any companies. However I feel this huge urge inside to help you out. I have been out here a long time and have talked to many Stevens drivers. I honestly can only recall one positive driver saying anything good about Stevens. There are alot of companies that will hire recent grads. My best advise to you would be to keep looking. IN my opinion this is not a good company to start out your career with.

    Good luck to you..

If hes in ocala, he should check out swift since they have a terminal there. Conway Truckload is another good one, and Crete.

If your still out there sorry I didnt see your post untill now. As another member stated with Stevens expext about .25cpm. I checked there website and this is what they are offering even experienced drivers! How they have anyone in there trucks simply amazes me!
There are alot of great starter companies out there. Schneider believe it or not is a pretty good company. A lot of people will disagree but I have heard a lot of good things from there new and old drivers. Maverick if you dont mind working a flatbed. from everything I have heard and read If I was just starting out this is a company I would look at. TMC another flatbed Company. Known for its equipment and pay scale is another I would look at. If Celedon lifts its hiring freeze this is another good company.

    Hope this helps you out...

I’ve spoke to several companies that drivers have recommended. Many have better pay for trainees and better mileage rate than Stevens. The biggest problem for us in Florida is NONE of the companies are hiring out of our area. The only way to get out of here is to hook up with Stevens, Swift, Werner etc… I’ve been reluctant to make the commitment with some of these carriers but bottom line is; this is the only way if you’re stuck in our neck of the woods. Unless I’m missing something, please share!

Johnnlexy, did you ever make a decision? Find another carrier from the Florida area?
