Shouldn't, sounds like it's in the wiring upstream or in the control unit its self. It's been a while since I've torn into the cab controls for the HVAC so it's not fresh in my mind. Worst part is those units are 600-700 bucks apiece and a major pain to fish the new cable to the coolant valve. Every one I have done is so beat up that even if you could get the individual parts for the control unit your money ahead to replace the whole thing.

I've got an intermittent blower motor. I have replaced the resistor and ruled this out. If I repeatedly turn the heater on and off, I can get the blower to start, and when it starts, it works on all 3 speeds. I've taken apart the blower motor "box", cleaned things out and put power and ground to the blower motor itself. The fan works every time with straight power to it. The thread I'm replying to mentions a new switch and harness, which switch and harness are you referring to? (I originally thought it referred to the freeze switch but took that out of the loop and no change without it).

Hopefully this makes sense, thanks in advance!

The switch at the control panel that operates the HVAC has a tendency to overheat due to age and will start to melt the harness plastic covering that goes onto the prongs of the switch, if it gets real bad it will melt where the switch mounts to the control panel and you will need a new one.
This happened to me on a 99 W900.
